CoLab’s mission is to provide LMC students with a space in LMC where they can come to work, create, and develop skills that will follow them into their careers after college. We want to give students a space to grow as creators and discover their dream career — and then we help them achieve it. We offer a friendly, comfortable, and collaborative environment with peer guides and a professional career advisor to help students hone their creative skills, succeed in their creative, academic, and professional endeavors, and develop new career goals, plans, and realities.
We also offer internship and job opportunities to driven students who want hands-on experience in a creative field. Social media interns get marketing experience and learn vital communication skills. Design interns not only hone their artistic and creative skills completing design projects; they get real-world experience negotiating projects with clients and communicating with team members.
As featured artists in group exhibitions, students learn how to create gallery-quality works. As exhibition hands, students gain experience displaying work for an audience. As web and graphic designers, students build their portfolios by using their classroom experience to advertise CoLab shows. As marketers and promoters, students learn to communicate exhibition information with social media.
LMC and CM Students may drop in during business hours to work on their creative endeavors: graphic design, web development, film and photography editing, and writing. They can also de-stress with the studio’s origami and watercolor supplies!
CoLab staff (both student workers and interns for-credit) are offered a variety of opportunities to be in-house studio designers, writers, and content creators.
CoLab offers access to a wide variety of technologies for all of your design needs: Adobe Creative Suite, Android Studio, IntelliJ, Processing, PyCharm, Unity, and more!
